The North Shore Kidney Run will take place this year at Ambleside Park on Sunday September 23rd and will include options for Walkers and Fun Runners in both Individuals and Teams.

Did you know … 85% of British Columbians surveyed were in favour of organ donation? But only 17% have registered to be organ donors? This huge gap between “will do” and “did do” is threatening the lives of the 2,800 people in BC on kidney dialysis. They must wait up to 5 years for a new kidney. Some don’t last that long.
The Kidney Foundation is committed to closing this gap and YOU CAN HELP. The North Shore Kidney Run will take place this year at Ambleside Park on Sunday September 23rd. The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC Branch will celebrate its 5th annual Give the Gift of Life Kidney Walks & Runs in August and September of 2012. In year one, a fledgling group of 7 communities successfully came together to make a difference in the lives of kidney patients and their families. In 2012, 19 communities around BC join forces to champion this extraordinary grassroots event. These walks have expanded to include dragon boat teams and even competitive runs in select communities.
The Kidney Foundation of Canada's Give the Gift of Life Kidney Walks take place each year in communities all across the country, and are one of the Kidney Foundation of Canada's most important 'Recycle for Life' fundraising and awareness campaigns. Nationwide, our Kidney Walks have a decade-long history of making a difference in the fight against kidney disease. The efforts of each participant go towards helping the Foundation implement important programs in each specific Walk's region to combat kidney disease, help improve the well-being of kidney patients and their families, and increase awareness of the dire need for more organ donors. 2011's North Shore Kidney Run
Last year's North Shore Kidney Run brought participants out from across the North Shore to walk, run, and dragonboat together to fight kidney disease and promote organ donation. Live family entertainment included a live music performance by local musicians such as Vancouver's Moon Circus and the North Shore's Freddy Fuddpucker and the Rolling Clones Band, a First Nations dance demonstration, appearances by local celebrities, awards, and a warm-up lead by our community partners at Steve Nash Fitness World.
