Your Support Means the World to Me
Kidney Disease is on the rise, affecting one in 10 Canadians.
I have been living with Kidney Disease all my life and I have been involved with kidney march for the past 3 years. Two of those years I was crew and for the first time last year I was able to walk in kidney march. I have had over 100+ surgeries in my life due to many medical issues. I would love to walk again in this years kidney march in support of myself and everyone else who is living with kidney disease. Kidney march has made such a big impact on my life because I have been able to meet many people who are living with kidney disease just like me. Please help me reach my fundraising goal. Your support means the world to me
We can make a difference. This is big. I am taking part in Kidney March - a 3 day, 100 km journey from Kananaskis to Calgary. This is more than just a walk; I am joining with hundreds of others as a united front against kidney disease.
Diagnosed early enough - kidney disease can be slowed. However, because you can lose 80% kidney function without any symptoms, many people don't know they have kidney disease until they are close to kidney failure. On average, 15 Canadians are newly diagnosed with kidney failure every day.
Kidney failure can be fatal. Unfortunately, it is a leading cause of death in Canada. There is no cure.
On September 8th, 9th and 10th, I am participating in Kidney March. It will be a challenge for me. But I am excited for it. After all a chronic illness so encompassing as kidney disease deserves a walk of this magnitude. I am training in preparation of marching 100 km. But I need your help. My goal is to raise a minimum of $2,200. Please sponsor me.
In supporting me, you are supporting The Kidney Foundation of Canada. Funds raised by Kidney March help the Foundation carry out kidney disease prevention, lifesaving research, and organ donation initiatives. In fact, this year, by being a part of Kidney March I am a part of Canada’s biggest effort to date to improve kidney health and the care of those with chronic kidney disease! How? The Kidney Foundation of Canada, in partnership with several organizations, has been named to receive a dollar match of up to $12.5 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR). This research will focus on a number of elements, including changes in care delivery, improvement of treatment therapies, and organ donation. The Kidney Foundation of Canada is proud to have pledged a minimum of $3.35M to make this transformational research project possible – but I need your help. By supporting me, you are a part of this unique, one-time matching opportunity. There has never been a better time to support kidney research in Canada.
Thank you for taking up the torch on behalf of the millions affected or who are at risk. A kidney crisis is looming. The time to make a difference is now. Failure is not an option.
