Your Support Means a Lot
Kidney Disease is on the rise, affecting one in 10 Canadians and many more people worldwide.
I am taking part in Kidney March - a 3 day, 100 km journey from Kananaskis to Calgary. I am joining with hundreds of others as a united front against kidney disease.
Why? I have worked as a nurse in the UK in renal medicine for many years. It is difficult to appreciate and convey how awful being dependent upon dialysis is and I speak as someone with some insight. I have temporarily moved to Canada to work as a researcher in this field because I think Canada are ahead of the curve in terms of undertaking research for patient benefit. The University of Calgary Kidney Research Team are world renowned in their field and their results are likely to benefit people with kidney disease, not just in Canada but worldwide. It is exciting and inspiring to be part of this.
On September 8th, 9th and 10th, I am participating in Kidney March. Please sponsor me, any contribution will be gratefully received and will hopefully help to ease the burden of this onerous condition on patients and their families.
