Who are we?

We are a grassroots organization that depends on and is grateful for the dedicated involvement of a wide variety of volunteers and financial supporters. All operations of The Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch are made possible by the generous support of many individuals and organizations. Some provide volunteer help, some financial, and our Partners in Health share our vision of kidney health and improved lives for all people affected by kidney disease.

The work of the Kidney Foundation of Canada, BC & Yukon Branch is supported annually by:
  • Volunteers;
  • Foundations, Service Clubs, Corporations, Unions & Organizations;
  • Staff; and
  • People like you.

We invest in research and we advocate for effective public policy that enables people affected by kidney disease to live well and contribute to their families and their community.

We work closely with our community Chapters across BC and the Yukon through March Drive and Kidney Walks, as well as third party events to raise the funds necessary to support people affected by kidney disease.

What are Chapters?

There are Chapters and community groups across BC & the Yukon where our members join together to make a meaningful difference in the lives of kidney patients and their families. Our members also help us raise public awareness of the seriousness of kidney disease, and encourage people to keep their kidneys healthy.

Our Chapters engage in a number of patient service activities such as the provision of patient comfort items at their community's dialysis facilities. Chapters play a pivotal role in promoting social connections amongst people who are affected by kidney disease. Traditionally these activities include summer BBQs and holiday parties, but have grown to include informal peer support & education.

Chapters are the heart and soul of the BC & Yukon Branch, and are involved in many of our fundraising and public awareness raising activities.

Can I volunteer?

The BC & Yukon Branch relies on the energy and expertise of our members and volunteers. People from across the province help to organize our annual March Drive or Kidney Walks in their communities. Volunteers also deliver presentations and speak at events to raise awareness about organ donation, kidney disease and kidney health.

Volunteers are welcome to help us by contributing their expertise and passion in many different areas.

We want to support you to get the most out of your volunteer experience because we recognize that meaningful experiences make the biggest difference for all of us.
