Your Support Means the World to Me
I am walking for Jim, he is my love, my life, my best friend & my inspiration. Prior to 2009 Jim was fit & well. In February 2009 he was admitted with a rare pneumonia which kept him in hospital for a total of 81/2 months, 51/2 in ICU. He has been left with permanently damaged lungs, kidneys & bowel. He requires oxygen 24/7, dialysis 3 times a week & is tube fed at night. Jim works hard to maintain his health, for the 2016 March he completed 440km on the patient program which is fantastic for someone with 25% lung function. Jim has been involved with the Kidney March since the beginning, I walked for the first time in 2016. This is such an important cause to raise money for prevention of kidney disease, life saving research & organ donation initiatives. But Kidney March is much more than that, it is about the people you meet, the stories you hear, to know you are not alone in your experiences & to feel part of the Kidney March family. For Jim it has given him a purpose, he will raise my funds making tote bags, lunch bags & wine bags so I would ask anyone wishing to donate to donate to Jenny Hutton our daughter who will do the walk for the 3rd time. I ask this because if Jim's health was not good on that weekend I would not be able to walk.
Kidney Disease is on the rise, affecting one in 10 Canadians.
We can make a difference. This is big. I am taking part in Kidney March - a 3 day, 100 km journey from Kananaskis to Calgary. This is more than just a walk; I am joining with hundreds of others as a united front against kidney disease.
Kidney failure can be fatal. Unfortunately, it is a leading cause of death in Canada. There is no cure.
On September 9th, 10th and 11th, I am participating in Kidney March. It will be a challenge for me. But I am excited for it. After all a chronic illness so encompassing as kidney disease deserves a walk of this magnitude. I am training in preparation of marching 100 km. But I need your help. My goal is to raise a minimum of $2,200. Please sponsor me.
Thank you for taking up the torch on behalf of the millions affected or who are at risk. A kidney crisis is looming. The time to make a difference is now. Failure is not an option.
