Your Support Means the World to Us

Kidney Disease is on the rise, affecting one in 10 Canadians. We can make a difference.

This is big. Our team is taking part in Kidney March - a 3 day, 100 km journey from Kananaskis to Calgary. This is more than just a walk; we are joining with hundreds of others as a united front against kidney disease.

Kidney disease is a leading cause of death in Canada. It is called the silent killer for a reason - by the time you know you have it; it’s often too late. Daily, on average, 15 Canadians learn their kidneys have failed. This diagnosis means that this vital organ, which usually filters 200 litres of blood a day, ceases to function. There is no cure. Without treatment (dialysis or transplant), the disease is fatal. And unfortunately, in the next 10 years the number of people at risk of kidney disease is expected to double nationally.

On September 9th, 10th, and 11th our team will make noise for this cause. As a kidney crisis looms, Kidney March asks our team to do the most we have ever done for kidney disease. It will be a personal challenge to walk the 100 kilometres over 3 days. Please help us with our second challenge - to raise a minimum of $2,200 for each team member – by generously donating to any of our team members.

In supporting our team, you are supporting The Kidney Foundation of Canada. Funds raised by Kidney March help the Foundation carry out kidney disease prevention, lifesaving research, and organ donation initiatives. In fact, this year, by being a part of Kidney March we are a part of Canada’s biggest effort to date to improve kidney health and the care of those with chronic kidney disease! How? The Kidney Foundation of Canada, in partnership with several organizations, has been named to receive a dollar match of up to $12.5 million through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Strategy for Patient-Oriented Research (SPOR). This research will focus on a number of elements, including changes in care delivery, improvement of treatment therapies, and organ donation. The Kidney Foundation of Canada is proud to have pledged a minimum of $3.35M to make this transformational research project possible – but we need your help. By supporting us, you are a part of this unique, one-time matching opportunity. There has never been a better time to support kidney research in Canada.

Your donation means a lot to us. Thank you for taking up the torch on behalf of the millions affected or who are at risk. A kidney crisis is looming. The time to make a difference is now. Failure is not an option.
